Hello, happy Monday!
I want to share how this weekend was truly enlightening, eye opening and refreshing for me and demonstrates to you the real impact of having purpose in your life.
This weekend I felt like every ounce of my soul was aligned internally.
I was hosting an English camp with our team in Tak (Thailand), to a school with the smallest number of students, just 54 of them TOTAL across all age groups!
Along with being the smallest school, with an extremely low budget and old facilities, the students are some of the highest on the ladder of poverty. Most students live 10km or more away from the school, and have to make their own way there each day, which involves a bike ride, motorcycle ride or relying on their parents to drop them every day. Access to travel is scarce due to family poverty and the small school budget, which cannot fund pick-up buses.
Picture your typical school in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but greenery and road, this was that school.
So heading into the weekend, I was expecting a group of students with low ability, low energy levels and minor behavioural challenges, I expected a struggle to teach the subject.
Boy was I blown away! The students were one of the greatest groups I have ever had the privilege to work with.
The showed commitment
Their energy levels & engagement were high
They were grateful for our presence
Their level of English was above the expected levels
The togetherness was evident
The array of personalities was wonderful to witness
I couldn't help but feel immense pride, tremendous satisfaction and wholesomeness being a part of this experience. It was one of those moments where I realised I am having a powerful impact on the world, and that every decision I have made has been justified.
This is what purpose feels like, it is an array of feelings that provide your soul with such fulfilment, not even a Richter scale could record. It is a feeling where you do not even think about the pay cheque, because yes I was getting paid, but quite frankly I did not care if I did.
Purpose is about the greater impact, and the moment you ever feel a time when your soul has been poured with the array of feelings I mentioned above, this is your life's calling.
Some of you reading this may be in a similar boat like I was, where I allowed society to question whether working as a teacher/youth worker was my purpose, in favour of chasing finances through avenues that did not provide me with the feelings I have discussed today.
As a result, like I did you will be feeling a sense of internal conflict, causing you frustration and a lack of fulfilment in life, so to this I highly encourage you to ACCEPT your purpose, no matter what it is, it will change your life.
There is no price tag on a life where your soul feels aligned to everything you are doing. This is truly priceless, and a feeling you deserve to achieve!
Before I wrap this up, I want to let you know I am running a 1 month quality of life challenge to help busy professionals and business owners, build the foundations to obtain the quality of life you're working so hard for, yet not achieving.
