Hello again.

I hope you are not too busy, but if you are I have something for you below.

This is a highly intuitive video by Ali Abdaal, who is a productivity expert. The video will help you understand where you are currently allocating your time, and then focus on where you can create time to pursue your next best self.

I do encourage you to watch the whole video, but here are my key takeaways, summarised for you:

  1. You have 168 hours in the week, just like everyone else.

  2. You do not currently know where you are investing your time, so how can you implement something that creates it ? The breakdown will help you do just this.

  3. The average American spends a full 40 hour working week watching TV (19 hours) or spending time on social media (21 hours, modestly) per week. (if you are not American the numbers still won’t be far of, this is the reality of our world now)

  4. Double Dipping! This is a concept where you double down on your time. For example during the commute to work you will read, or during your fitness session you will listen to a useful podcast.

Now you don’t need to create time in your day to ready or listen to podcasts that help you learn more.

  5. Sacrifices are a necessity not a choice. If you want to free up more time to help you become your next best self you will have to make sacrifices.

    For example..
    - You wake up 30 minutes earlier
    - You reduce your social media and TV consumption by a few hours per week
    - You socialise with friends once a week instead of 3 times

The sacrifices you will have to make will be originally hard no matter what you choose, but sacrifice is a necessity.

  1. Everything is contextual to your own life, and things will occur along the way that will alter your plans. Adaptation is always key!

If you want to download the spreadsheet which he utilises in the video (I have used it and it is very good) you can check the link in the Youtube description link.

As I always like to say time is your ally not your enemy.

Until next week, enjoy this week's photo of the week, where I visited Lampang in Thailand, still living and actively creating the life I desire, one building block at a time.
