Happy Monday!

Have you woken up today lacking clarity in your life about your purpose ?

Do you have an abundance of questions about the meaning of life, and how your life should be lived whilst you are here ?

Well join the club, because you are one of millions of people stuck in this same boat.

But why is this the case ?

Well let me introduce you to the brain's 'Default Mode Network' which is an area of our brain designed to tap into our critical thinking ability and to answer these very questions.

Our default mode network is actively engaged when we are doing nothing and in essence are 'bored'. So this means sitting in silence or going for a walk/run with nothing but your thoughts. It means not scrolling on your phone, not working out with music in, not reading a book or even listening to a podcast.

Because when our brain lacks the stimulation the modern world of instant access to information and distraction has provided us, these very questions about purpose, meaning and general curiosity about life are naturally replayed within our brain's.

Why ? We are a curious species, always looking to seek answers.

Yet because these questions are so difficult and require time to process, our current state of action is to ignore answering these questions and make ourselves distracted once again.

A study was conducted where people were placed in a room, and asked to sit in silence for 15 minutes or give themselves an electric shock, and to my personal surprise most participants chose to shock themselves... CRAZY!

Now you wonder why you are lacking clarity in life ?

Ask yourself this, when was the last time you sat or walked in silence (no phone, talking to friends, music, reading or podcast listening etc) for at least 15 minutes ?

Now if you are someone who has managed to complete this, or you do it on a regular basis, what difference have you seen it make to your creativity, critical thinking skills and ultimately clarity ?

Think about it like this.

When you are sleeping, your brain develops insanely creative dreams (sometimes scary and weird of course), because it is being provided with time to rest and tap into its default network.

With that all being said, I would like to challenge you to sit in silence everyday for 10 minutes, yes not 15, let's go for 10 for 7 days straight.

What do you notice ? What questions run through your mind ? How are your urges to end the silence ? What answers do you develop to life's questions ?

I am confident your answers will be revealing!

For a more intellectual breakdown of my point, here is a wonderful 5 minute video on where I gained the insight from, which helps me how I conduct my life today.

P.S. Reclaim your quality of life.

This is the exact type of work we'll be doing in my new free program, the 30-Day Quality of Life Challenge, starting September 29th.

The idea is simple: we'll help you reclaim the quality of life you originally set out to achieve.

You’re an ambitious person who has worked hard to get where you are, but perhaps you’ve become a prisoner to your own success. This challenge is designed to change that for 8 busy professionals and business owners.

Enjoyed a wonderful English Camp last weekend with a wonderful school. A quality of life for me is living one led by impact, and what better way to create impact than through education.

I hope to see you soon
